‘We Are Sherpa’ is such a website where you can get any information regarding Sherpa for example, you can get information of history of Sherpa, their religion, their relatives, language, script, tradition and culture, customs, eating habits, and matter of daily life.
The Beginning of ‘We Are Sherpa’
Any mission has a cause. It has its goal. But gaining the return is matter of future and it can’t be predicted easily by anyone. There is Sherpa saying which is worth mentioning here in this context “if you don’t mention the chronology is meaningful way, unbelievablity will be alleged.
From the inscription of improvising Sherpa language used in 1038 A.D, it has been proved that Sherpa language is more than one thousand years old. Its existence can be predicted to be longer than this in it written and unwritten form. In such a time of language estrangement one dictionary of ‘natural’ and Sanskrit language had been prepared under the leadership of our H.E. Nguang Tenjing zangpo (Tengbochhe) rinpochhe. The dictionary name ‘Sherwi Chhikjo Kunsal Melong’ with more than 10,000 words had been prepared by myself, Lopon Gurmei Chhodak (Khumbu) and Khempo Ngawang Thekchhok (Dolakha) fallowing all the accepted principles of ‘Nature’ and Sanskrit language. It has been like ‘Letters to the illiterate’ for Sherpa people as it is prepared in as it is prepared in Shamvota Script.
Keeping this matter into account my respectable brother Ang Kami published two books in both ‘khas’ Nepali and English language. They are Sherpa language Dictionary and ‘Conversation in Sherpa Language’. But they seem less effective to reach to the target group. So to reach to the target group, my dear brother and president of ‘Peeky Hill Social Organization’ Ngima Dendi decided to upload both the books in website (keeping the raising value of technology, he further decided to creates a website and) later he realized that numerous documents and traditions like history of Sherpas from the ancient time, religion and it’s practice, language and script, culture and tradition cuisine and costume, various activities of Sherpa’s and their daily lives, have been used very less and if this continues, the identity of Sherpa people will be at crisis. Realizing this could have grave consequences for all Sherpa community, he decided to create ‘We Are Sherpa’ without any greed. His motto is to let eyes open of the youngsters to make them aware about the culture and tradition of Sherpa. Once again I acknowledge him and Peekya Hill Social Organization for direction, guidance and suggestive lessons for permitting us come to you.
Thank You
